The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo: Trent Reznor, Black Keys, Matt Nathanson

"IMMIGRANT SONG"            TRENT REZNOR & KAREN O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs)

Zeppelin cover song with vocals by Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs ("Maps" was their big song) with music by Trent Reznor is the theme song to the U.S. version of "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo".     I saw the trilogy of these Swedish films and loved the storyline.    It made me re-think foreign films and subtitles.   I've heard the U.S. version with Daniel Craig is excellent and looking forward to seeing and comparing it to the original movie.

"STILL"                             MATT NATHANSON

Big change of pace after that Trent Reznor sonic blast, Matt Nathanson is a singer-songwriter who writes honest, love songs with nothing more than an acoustic guitar and a drummer.   He wrote "Come On Get Higher" and I adore the cover of this song by Sugarland, one of the sexiest country music songs of all-time.  Matt is underrated and opening for Kelly Clarkson this upcoming spring.   Check out the lyrics to "Still":

I remember honey lips and words so true
I remember nonstop earthquake dreams of you
You're coming on fast like good dreams do
All night long

Still can feel you kiss me love
Still can see your brown skin shine, shine
Still can feel you kiss me love
Come on and drive me wild

"GOLD ON THE CEILING"                     BLACK KEYS

The Black Keys are the critic's darlings of the last few years and after being nominated for many Grammy Awards this year, I expect their success to only grow.    This Ohio duo is classic rock with a blues yet indie feel to their music.    Their latest CD, El Camino, was voted the 12th best CD of the year by Rolling Stone magazine.   This live version of "Gold On The Ceiling" is from Letterman and their new song has already been used on ESPN for NFL clips.
