Fox's Glee! has jumped on the bandwagon since their first episodes.   DJ's have been playing megamixes in the clubs for years.  The trick is blending the vocals and the hooks to seamlessly flow into each other.  It's a real talent and when it works, it completely transforms the song.  Here's 4 to energize your day!!

My favorite mash-up DJ is DJ Earworm.   His biggest claim to fame is his countdown song of the biggest hits of the year.  2008's version is the best and I added to an earlier blog.  Here's that link:  2008 Mashup.   DJ Earwood's first year end countdown was 2007, enjoy!  For fun, how many songs can you name here?   Artist hints:  Rihanna, Timberlake, Fergie, Mims, Maroon 5.....

"FADE INTO SOMEONE LIKE YOU" - AVIICI vs ADELE  (DJs FROM MARS Remix)

Adele's "Someone Like You" is so hauntingly beautiful, it's almost painful to listen to because we can all relate to her pain.   Her song is mashed with one of the hottest DJ's, Aviici, to add some punch to the mix.   It's not better than the original but it's hot!

"SMOOTH ROMANCE"   LADY GAGA VS. ROB THOMAS VS. VAN HALEN

Recipe:  Two scoops of "Smooth" by Santana, a half of a cup of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" and a few sprinkles of "Jump" from Van Halen.     Mix well, serve hot!

"MOVES LIKE JAGGER / JUMPIN JACK FLASH"  - GLEE CAST

Is it just me or this version WAY better than Maroon 5's?    If you would have told me that Glee would have mashed up a hallowed Rolling Stones song and done this well, I wouldn't have believed it!   I actually like  the guy in the wheelchair, Artie's, dance moves better than the other guys.  He has a Justin Timberland-like voice that works great here.

Comedy Classics: Sam Kinison, Lady Gaga with Lonely Island, Deion Sanders, Cheech and Chong, Steel Panther

"WILD THING"    SAM KINISON

The unforgettable Sam Kinison, Pentecostal preacher turned outrageous stand up comedian.   His signature scream and fearless attitude was perfectly captured in his music video of the Troggs classic.   So many cameos including Jessica Hahn, Slash, Jon Bovi, and Steven Tyler.

"3 WAY"  JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, ANDY SAMBERG, with LADY GAGA

First comment, wow, Lady Gaga looks better in this video than I've ever seen here before.   Everyone knows "D*ck In A Box" then the follow-up "Mother Lover", this was Andy Samberg's third collaboration with Justin Timberlake.

"BORN IN EAST L.A."   CHEECH & CHONG

Jumping on the Bruce Springsteen bandwagon, 70's stoners, Cheech & Chong, create a classic parody song that accompanied their film of the same name.    This song played during the end credits.

"FAT GIRL"    STEEL PANTHER (NSFW)

Change the comedy lyrics of any of Steel Panther's songs and you have a 80's pop metal classic worthy of Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, or L.A. Guns.    Steel Panther (previously known as Metal Skool) is very explicit in most of their songs but you can't overlook their musicianship.   "Fat Girl" takes it to the edge but it's safer than most of their videos :)

"MUST BE THE MONEY"   DEION SANDERS

It's between Bo Jackson and Neon Deion Sanders who was the greatest two-sport athlete of the last 50 years.   I'd choose Bo but Deion put 1/2 of the field on lockdown in his prime.  Besides his Hall Of Fame career with the Dallas Cowboys and a solid Atlanta Braves baseball stint, Deion tried to be a triple threat and join the rap game.  It's unforgettable!
