Houses Of The Holy, Track 3: Led Zeppelin, Creed, Night Ranger

"OVER THE HILLS AND FAR AWAY"      LED ZEPPELIN
Arguably the greatest hard rock band of all-time, if you wanted to create an all-star band, Led Zeppelin has contenders at each instrument.   John Bonham voted #1 drummer of all-time.   Jimmy Page, Guitar Magazine's #2 guitarist ever.   Bassist John Paul Jones, the bassist that everyone from Flea, Geddy Lee, and Gene Simmons credit as their biggest inspiration.   Add in the lead vocals of the incomparable Robert Plant and you have reached Heavy Metal perfection.

"ON MY SLEEVE"    CREED
Like so many, I loved early Creed, "My Own Prison" rocked with pure passion and Scott Stapp's "With Arms Wide Open" from "Human Clay" was one of the most touching rock songs of the 2000's.    Then came the backlash, Scott's holier than thou attitude, weak CDs, and the collapse of the band.   They reunited in 2009 and released a new CD, "Full Circle".   The best cut on the disc is "On My Sleeve" - classic riffs, you can feel the earnest passion in the lyrics, great song!

"GOODBYE"   NIGHT RANGER
Dirk Diggler and Boogie Nights made "Sister Christian" one of the defining songs of the 80's.  Jack Blades and Kelly Keagy of San Francisco's Night Ranger, had a great run in the mid 80's and my favorite ballad by the band was the acoustic-flavored ballad "Goodbye" dedicated to Jack's brother who died young of an overdose.
