"PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN" BEYONCE
In 2008, Beyonce released a deluxe edition of her I Am .... Sasha Fierce CD. Included in the updated version was Beyonce's cover of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless The USA" but titled "Proud To Be An American". Three years later, Beyonce performed this on the Piers Morgan show and released this on I-Tunes as a charity single.
"AMERICA" NEIL DIAMOND
Can't think of a better 4th of July song than Neil Diamond's concert footage from his movie, The Jazz Singer. Not many guys can pull off wearing the sparkly, rhinestone blue shirt complete with a long white scarf. This version of Neil Diamond is so "raw", over the top, but totally rock n roll with big guitars, patriotic, the crowd's chanting along, professing the love of being free and living in America.
"BACK IN THE U.S.A." CHUCK BERRY with LINDA RONSTADT
Coming full circle, Chuck Berry wrote and recorded "Back In The U.S.A." in the 50's. Linda Ronstadt updated the song in the 70's with a raucous cover. Then in the late 80's, an AWESOME bio-pic/concert of Chuck Berry's career called "Hail! Hail! Rock N Roll" was released. Chuck and Linda performed it live with Eric Clapton AND Keith Richards on backing guitar!
