"FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS" BRIAN McKNIGHT, PAPA ROACH, P.O.D., ROSALYN SANCHEZ, MYA
One of my all-time favorite charity singles. The day after Christmas 2004, a tsunami blasted the Asia coastline killing thousands. Mixing in R&B artists like Brian McKnight and Mya with Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach and Sonny from P.O.D. was a brilliant decision. The lyrics sound sincere, the drums are intense, and the choir adds a great touch to the meaning of the song.
"JUST WHAT I NEEDED" THE CARS
Live from 1979 from the classic TV show that followed The Tonight Show featuring Johnny Carson, "The Midnight Special". Here's the Cars performing one of their most memorable songs. Benjamin Orr sings the lead here with Ric Ocasek singing backup. You didn't see The Cars perform live often on TV so it's a little eerie seeing Ben sing. The Cars made a comeback this last year and it was actually one of the best comeback CD's I've heard in awhile.
"FADE INTO YOU" MAZZY STAR
Dreamy swirling guitars, Hope Sandoval's mesmerizing voice, set the mood for an one of the most mood enducing and relaxing songs ever. The video was shot in the Mojave Desert and it's vintage 90's alt-pop. How can a group make a song this brilliant and never come close to repeating their success?
