"STILL LOVING YOU" THE SCORPIONS
The most dramatic power ballad of the 80's? The greatest band ever out of Germany with a song so beautiful, so breathtaking, that you have to stop in awe and get drawn into the emotion. Klaus' voice nails the quiet parts, when the band explodes into the chorus, magic! You can feel chills up your spine, one of the best the Scorpions ever did.
If we'd go again
All the way from the start
I would try to change
The things that killed our love
Your pride has built a wall, so strong
That I can't get through
Is there really no chance
To start once again
"CONSOLER OF THE LONELY" THE RACONTEURS
Jack White, master guitarist (#70 on the Rolling Stone all-time list), brilliant song-writer, and creative record producer. His band resume includes The Raconteurs, Dead Weather, a Grammy Winning CD with Loretta Lynn, Electric Six, Bob Dylan's band, and of course, The White Stripes. This song is the title track from their 2008 release and features speed changes, guitar feedback, a blistering solo, and a euphoric Zepellin-like feel to it.
"BLUE MONDAY" ORGY
A cover of a 80's classic by New Order (formerly Joy Division), Orgy turns this on its head with an alternative, aggressive, heavier sound. The original is bouncy and fun, this one is sexual and does exactly what a great cover should do: reinvent the song. Orgy released this on their debut in 1998, Candyass :) They has basically broken up now but 1/2 of the band have recently joined Chester Bennington of Linkin Park to form Chester's side band, Dead By Sunrise.
